What can you say when a quirky short story written by an insatiable author who’s known for writing overwhelmingly multi-genre outrageous stories decides to take a stab at writing something regarding the mystical 1960’s in the guise of a series which combines the music and spy stories from that decade?
The result is a series which the author, Frank Schildiner, has entitled, Satanic Spies and Other Musicals of which Johnny Rich is the first installment. Johnny Rich who’s a skilled individual regarding the supernatural and secret agent, along with “Ma”, his gorgeous sidekick find themselves being clandestinely called upon by MI6. Their assignment is locating the whereabouts of an earl’s daughter who’s been reportedly captivated by a notorious, mysterious, cult-leading musician. Will these two be able to overcome this individual’s personae to complete their task in this splendid endeavor of pulp fiction, I’m not going to say.
But for having given his readers, a relatively enticing introduction to his purposed new series of short stories, I’ve given Mr. Schildiner 5 STARS for his endeavor in this outing.
A ripping yarn cut from the mould of classic pulp adventure. A sheer joy to read on a lazy Saturday afternoon.
Absolutely wonderful. Great dialogue, well developed characters engaging plot. Schildiner does a wonderful job!! I cannot wait for more!
