Kaitlin Rodgers was a young, beautiful and noted comedic actress trying to make a dramatic movie. She had purchased the movie rights to the autobiography by Captain Diane Henshaw, United States Marine Corps (Medically Retired), struggles with PTSD titled The Path Home. Kaitlin was also co-producing and was going to portray Captain Henshaw. Her problems were her current television comedy series collapsed through bad writing, her love life was in shambles and she knew nothing about any of the things Captain Henshaw had written about, especially being a Marine Officer. Kaitlin’s obsession with making the movie and portraying Captain Henshaw with accuracy takes her from her home in Brentwood, to a military training company call Combat Incorporated. From there she goes into the Montana Wilderness to learn how to live alone in a small cabin with the help of a widowed, retired Marine thirty-five years her senior.Matthew J. Walker was a widower and a retired Marine living on his ranch in Oklahoma. He missed his wife of 38 years but knew life must go on, so when he was offered a job as trainer/technical advisor to an attractive, young actress so she could make a movie about a Female Marine Officer recovering from PTSD, he was hesitant about taking the job. But he took the job not knowing how his own demons would deal with the assignment. But there was no way for Kaitlin to anticipate the journey she was about to take nor did she reckon with Master Sergeant Matthew J. Walker and the effect he would have on her life.

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed "The Path Home." The storyline is unique--a beautiful movie star, signed to play the role of a female Marine, is faced with life-altering experiences as she prepares for her role. She almost reaches her physical and emotional limits as she undergoes rigorous training in a mini-US Marine boot camp. Keeping the novel interesting and fun is the development of a love interest--tenuous at first, but with increasing intensity."The Path Home" has just the right amount of intrigue, tension and romance to hold the reader's interest. Instead of being divided into chapters, the book is presented in a timeline form that works well as a means to follow the chronological order as the story progresses.
I recommend "The Path Home" as a pleasant diversion from the stresses of work or daily living. I do not think it is too far-fetched to suggest that the author consider writing a screen play of his novel. It would make both a very fine movie or a television mini-series.

The Path Home Leon Michaels Books Reviews
From start to finish, this was a very good book. I could not put it down until I finished it. All about a Hollywood starlet who wanted to protray a decorated female officer and the trials and training she went through to try and portray her valiant life on screen. The lives she touched along the way, mainly retired and disabled veterans of many wars, and how they affected her and made her find herself along the way. A very good read and I holeheartedly recommend it to anyone.
This book has a very good storyline and, as such, is hard to put down once you start reading. I found myself staying up way too late to find out what happens next. The authors style is easy going but very detailed when it comes to military matters from protocol to equipment descriptions. Good authors write about what they know. I would bet that this author has experienced much of what he writes about. The characters are well developed and memorable. The situations that characters are put in are believable and realistic. I'm assuming that this is the author's first work as I cannot find other books under the name. If so, it's above average for a first book. Four stars might be a stretch but, melding an action thriller with a love story is not easy. And, with all of the distractions in today's world, an author who can maintain a readers attention should be rewarded with a good score. BTW, I reserve 5 stars for seasoned best selling authors like Tom Clancy, Ernest Hemingway, and Leon Uris. RD
Well written and an easy read, it is a short glimpse into the training that our military personnel goes through. Very interesting with an interesting storyline. It is very much worth your time and an exceptional value.
As I sit here tears running down my cheeks, I can only say by the end, I felt like, I had just lost my family.
Good read with some life lessons embedded within the pages. You can tell the author knows his stuff when it comes to the material they are writing about. The main character could star in a lot of other books if the author decides to write any prequels. I'd definitely purchase more in this line if that was the case.
The story line is good, the writing is well done and captivating. What added interest for me was the technical content regarding aircraft, vehicles and weapons. The proof reader missed quite a few syntax errors, where the spell check changed words like of to words like on, that did not fit in the sentance. However the slight delays to figure out what should be, was not a real problem. I was hoping the book would not end, it still had potential for more chapters or even more books.
A book written about Marines by a Marine.
Lots of insight into the world of Marines
A good story, well written about warriors go thru in combat and finding their way back to what they were before combat.
